A weekend in Geneva with Geneva Tourism!
Hello Guys,
I hope you are well and enjoying your weekend!I know last weekend I didn’t post anything on the blog, but the last two weeks was super busy, but finally now I find the time in order to share with you one of my recent trips. You know how much I like Switzerland and how much I enjoy traveling around this so amazing country! So you can easily understand how excited I was, when I finally arrange one more trip around the country, and especially to one of my favorite cities, Geneva.
As you’ve already seen on my IG I had really great time on my weekend in Geneva!
It wasn’t the first time that I traveled to Geneva, but it was the first time that I traveled there, not for a press/business trip for a brand etc, but in order to discover and feel the city, and live a weekend full of experiences like a local, thanks to Geneva Tourism !
In a magnificent location alongside Lake Geneva, at the foot of the Jura Mountains and just a short distance from the Alps, the city’s many qualities will enchant you!
A trip to Geneva is definitely a must! It has road and rail connections to the rest of Europe and there is also an international airport just ten minutes from the city center. Its favourable position naturally makes it a European center for tourism!
Geneva has 2000 years of history and of course is worldwide know as the the birthplace of fine watchmaking. Also once in Geneva, you can visit numerous museums and art galleries, the UN’s European office, the headquarters of the Red Cross, the hub of Protestantism, prestigious schools, wonderful parks and of course to enjoy a rich cultural life and shopping for budgets both big and small!
After an almost 3 hours trip through amazing landscapes , at Swiss countryside I arrived in Geneva by train, and I really couldn’t wait to check in at one of the most stunning hotel that I ever stayed, the Hotel La Réserve and of course I could’t resist then to have a healthy lunch at Café Lauren at the Spa of the hotel. ( I will share more details about my stay at Hotel La Réserve next weekend on the blog!)
So then I was ready to explore the city
First stop, the Initium , where I had the opportunity to meet an authentic watchmaker and of course I learn how to assemble a movement by myself! So I became a real watchmaker just in the heart of the city!
After a short walk in the old city later this afternoon ,I really had the feeling that the old city during that hour looks like a fairy tale!
That night I had dinner at the trendy “Chez Philippe”. Philippe Chevrier is the most renown Genevan chef. Located in the Passage des Lions, an excellent address for a restaurant for "carnivores", Chez Philippe might be taken for a micro-enclave of New York in the heart of Geneva. A sort of meatpacking district on the Rhône!After that great dinner, I could’t resist for a cocktail at the stunning view at Rooftop 42 .
After spending the next morning relaxing at the Spa of the hotel, I was ready to discover more about the city, and a Gourmet Cruise was the best way to spend this super sunny spring Sunday. The team of Philippe Chevrier on board the "Savoie" elaborates a refined and subtle cuisine, which honours the charms of former days of this majestic Belle Epoque boat. Refined dishes featuring beef and lobster and into the lake was a such an amazing combination!
After my 3 hours cruise, I really wanted to walk around the city and discover beautiful Geneva with a bit of culture and tradition! Some of the spots that I really stand out was :
The view on the lake with the Water Fountain
The English Garden, with its beautiful fountain and the Flower Clock
The shopping streets with all these luxury boutiques!
The Old Town, with the pavements and the flags
The 360 degrees stunning view at the top of the Cathedral
The Bastion Park
The Carouge and its flowers
Unfortunately I could’t stay more because I had to go back to Zurich , but I already think my next trip it Geneva! If you are also planning your trip in Geneva check more here.
Thank you so much Geneva Tourism for making this trip real!
